Two years in captivity
- 23-06-2012 - Uncategorized
Today it has been two years ago that Morgan stranded in the Waddenzee and lives in captivity. International laws and directives stating, no matter how small chances to survive are, the animal has to return to the wild.
However, Morgans chances to survive after a release are in fact quite realistic, orca-experts from all over the world advise to rehabilitate her in small steps. Despite a detailed, very well arranged rehabilitation plan the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture was aware of, the Ministry chose to ignore the plan and gave permission to ship her to an entertainment park at Tenerife.
The Orca Coalition will keep on working for Morgans freedom and future stranding mammals. We are busy with preparations for the substantive proceedings which will take place in August or September, but still are in need of 2300,- euro. We hope you will make a donation for this important court case!
Why is this court case that important:
We think the outcome will be that the Ministry of Agriculture ignored the international law and directives. The Ministry was and is responsible, no effort was put into their supervisory function regarding this orca and the rehabilitation. Morgan is supposed to be released again at sea.
We know we are one step closer towards Morgans freedom, that is why we need your help financially, to once and for all set precedent.
Thank you!
