Is Orca Morgan going home?

The Orca Coalition will be back in court for the third time on 1 November. The huge ‘orca Morgan file’ will be treated by three judges in the highly anticipated main proceedings. This procedure was actually started in 2010 for the orca, but the situation Morgan was in, forced the Orca Coalition to start two summary proceedings.
That the animal cannot be released after two and a half years is nonsense, it is therefore not the orca experts who worry about that. The orca is a very intelligent animal, something greatly underestimated. The PR machine of the Dolfinarium Harderwijk has, however, made people believe that the animal would die if it would be released. Morgan has never had the chance to return to the wild. Instead, she is confined in a concrete tank in a sunny climate, and she swims between orcas who do not speak her language. This is not comparable to the northern sea where she came from. According to experts, Morgan has not forgotten where she came from: there is a a great chance, that after her rehabilitation, she will join her family or relatives.
“Morgan has still legally every right to regain her freedom,” says Hester Bartels, spokesperson for the Orca Coalition. “This lawsuit is not only important for Morgan, but also for the next orca that needs help. We want to prevent that another orca will be confiscated by the entertainment industry. Orcas produce this industry millions! ”
The Orca Coalition is a partnership between the animal- and nature organizations Dolphinmotion, Een DIER Een VRIEND, Bite Back, PINK!, Sea First Foundation, The Black Fish and Four Paws and are designated as official stakeholders.
